
The term Giclée (pronounced "Zhee-clay") is French meaning "to spray on," and refers to very high quality prints made with fade resistant UV inks on professional large-format printers. My prints are made by an artist/printmaker with extensive background in photography, digital imaging, and printing.
First the original painting is scanned or digitally photographed to produce a very high resolution file. Then a proof is made and matched against the original. After I approve the proof, the final image is printed on canvas and stretched around extra-wide stretchers so that no frame is required. The results are amazing, such that people often think the print is an original painting, not a reproduction.
